After hearing far too many stories of pet sits gone wrong, Eisha Miah, founder of Feathers to Fur, was shocked and deeply concerned. Friends and acquaintances had shared troubling accounts of pets being neglected—not just by casually arranged sitters like neighbours or friends, but even by individuals found through well-known house and pet-sitting websites and apps. In several heartbreaking cases, multi-cat households suffered due to sitters failing to clean litter trays or provide fresh water, resulting in ruined carpets and dehydrated cats. Hearing about the stress and discomfort these animals endured during poorly managed sits left a lasting impact on her.
With a strong background in animal care and research—and personal experience as a casual pet sitter, both independently and through online platforms—Eisha decided to take a closer look at the broader pet-sitting industry. What she discovered was troubling: despite many websites offering third-party insurance, most sitters had little to no formal animal care qualifications or training. While many were genuine animal lovers and responsible pet owners, there was often no formal screening process or competence checks in place. Even more concerning, there are currently no legal requirements for pet sitters on these sites to be insured, have a criminal background check, or to have emergency protocols prepared.
This realisation sparked the idea for something better—a service rooted in quality, care, and professionalism. Eisha envisioned a pet-sitting experience that went beyond basic expectations, delivered by sitters who not only love animals but also bring the qualifications, experience, and preparedness to ensure each pet’s safety and happiness.
In late 2023, she brought that vision to life by launching Feathers to Fur—a premium, bespoke pet care service designed to prioritise the well-being of every animal entrusted to its care.
Hi, I’m Eisha...
Founder of Feathers to Fur, I’m a lifelong animal lover with a background in Applied Animal Science (BSc) and Evolutionary & Behavioural Ecology (MSc). Alongside my academic studies, I’ve worked in wild animal rehabilitation with conservation charities both in the UK and overseas, and as a pet care advisor at a nationwide pet store.
These experiences have allowed me to take on some truly exciting and unusual animal-based roles—from tracking, rescuing, and rehabilitating sloths in Costa Rica, to spending spring in the French Pyrenees researching the nesting behaviour of migrating songbirds. As a result, I’ve worked with a wide range of species, whether furry, feathered, or otherwise!
I offer a personalised, professional pet care service tailored to the unique needs of each animal. Whether it's providing health checks, enrichment, or simply ensuring your pet feels safe and comfortable while you're away, I’m here to give them the very best care.
I understand how important it is to leave your pet in good hands, and I treat every animal as if they were my own. Whether you're away for a short trip or an extended holiday, you can trust your pet will be happy, safe, and well looked after with me.
